Lower
Air
Chaps TM
The
Lower Air Chaps are precision NC machined 3/16" thick clear Lexan polycarbonate deflectors
with edges buffed. They mount on the factory
Engine Guards and deflect the air flow away from your
lower leg and feet.
(Part
# 990A0-75037 for VL800/C50 Note: Suzuki has recently changed the design
of the engine guards and assigned a new part number ending in 73 not 37,
this guard will require drilling additional holes to match the holding
clamps to the guard. Contact us to receive a free kit of additional pads
and hardware to allow the installation if you have this version of the
guard.)
There is a small vertical overlap with the Middle
Air Chaps set when viewed from the front to provide continuous coverage
for the lower leg and knees.

The series of
holes close to the outside of the radiator provide an inner turbulent air path to allow air flow over the engine and
pipes to isolate your feet from the direct engine heat.

The Lower Air Chap
deflectors are angled out sufficiently so that they do not interfere
with your boots or shoes when operating the gearshift or rear brake.
|
|
As you can see in the picture to the
right the pair of Lower Air Chaps just overlap the edge of the radiator
with out adding any blockage. There are Urethane pads protecting the
radiator cover and the chrome engine guards from direct contact with the
deflectors. The stainless steel clamps are rubber lined and with
Urethane pads on the front of the deflectors, there is a very strong
friction grip on the engine guards.
The only tools required to install the Lower Air Chaps are a #2
Philips screwdriver and a 10 mm or 3/8" wrench. Installation
instructions come with the package. |

The Lower Air
Chaps work in combination with the Upper and Middle Air
Chaps as an integrated system to reduce the air stream hitting your
feet, legs, knees, chest and face.
