The Air
Chaps Concept
The Air
Chaps are designed as an integrated system to reduce air flow over the rider to improve comfort, reduce fatigue, and provide
additional protection from weather and road debris.
|
|
There are three parts to
the system. The Upper, Middle and Lower deflectors work
together to deflect and route the air flow around and away from the
rider. They work with the standard Suzuki Boulevard windshield and
engine guards. |
|

Upper (Handlebar
mount)
Middle (Fork mount)
Lower (Engine guard mount)
|
MIDDLE
SET
The
Middle deflector overlaps the bottom of the windshield and the top of
the Lower deflector and is the most important element in the Air Chaps
system. It stops the strong airflow normally coming over
the top of the gas tank and up to the riders chest. It also deflects the
air flow outside of the riders legs. It channels some air flow up the
back side of the windshield to the Upper deflectors. UPPER
SET
The
Upper deflectors block the air flow coming up behind the windshield and
deflect it sideways and upwards away from the riders face. By raising
and lowering the windshield you can adjust the amount of gentle airflow
that comes in through the gap between the headlight and the cut out
section on the windshield. LOWER
SET
The
Lower deflectors block the air flow coming under the Middle deflectors
and protect the ankles and feet. They are angled in towards the radiator
slightly to encourage addition flow through the radiator and in addition
have a series of holes beside the radiator to allow turbulent airflow
between the riders feet and the pipes and engine fins. This isolates the
riders feet from hot air close to the pipes and engine and allows normal
surface cooling of the engine. |
Air Chaps
Benefits
 |
Cuts
the air blast reaching your face and chest |
 |
Major improvement in comfort and
weather protection |
 |
Allow you to ride without heavy leather leg chaps over a wide range of weather conditions |
 |
Reduce fatigue on long
runs by not having to fight the air blast |
 |
Like having a full fairing bike
without the bulk, weight and cost |
 |
Air Chaps
deflectors are made from nearly indestructible clear
Lexan polycarbonate |
 |
All
Stainless Steel Hardware won't rust |
 |
Passivated
Stainless Steel Middle bracket matches the bikes appearance |
 |
No
modifications required to the bike |

Maximum
Benefit
The
maximum benefit to the rider comes from having the complete set of Air
Chaps deflectors working together. Each portion of the system can be
installed individually and will provide partial benefits, but the three
portions working together achieve the full performance capability.
For sequential
installation, start with the Middles, then Uppers, and finally Lowers. |
